COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course enables you to learn basic woodworking skills using hand tools and power tools.
This course involves a short safety assignment followed by project work and accompanying written assignments and tests.
You will create three projects over the year:-
- a dovetail tray
- a wall mounted set of shelves
- picnic tables for the school. (This will be a group project.)

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE DONE ALREADY?
Ideally you will have successfully completed the Year 10 Material Technology (10MTK) and/or Year 10 Spatial Product & Design (10SPD) courses.

ASSESSMENT REGULATIONS:
The
assessment tasks in this course involve the use of machinery and power tools such as the lathe, bandsaw and beltsander.
Every
student in this course will be required to sign a contract regarding the use of
the school workshop and the tools and equipment. Breaking the contract will
result in removal from the class.
Every
standard in this course contains written tasks to be completed. Students who
are entitled to reader/writer assistance need to draw this to the attention of
the teacher at the beginning of the school year so that assistance can be
arranged well before the deadlines of the assessment.
Due dates
will be advised by your teacher and are not negotiable. Incomplete work will
not be assessed subject to the school NCEA policy.
