Specialisation in pure mathematics skills can occur from Level 2 onward. Students who recognise either an interest or career pathway in pure mathematics are able to choose this course to focus heavily on concepts relating to algebra, trigonometry and geometry with the notable introduction of calculus methods into the courses.

These subjects will give you the skills needed to understand rates of change or find areas related to complex functions and solve algebraic situations which include non-real numbers. Such skills are highly sought after in various employment fields where strong mathematical knowledge is required such as engineering and technology. The course knowledge will also allow students who are taking senior science classes, particularly physics, to better engage with the material and therefore understand the world around them.
